WORKERS AT AWAPUNI. ADDITIONS TO THE TEAMS. (By “Binocular.”) The rain of the past few days has greatly benefited the tracks at Awapuni and the course proper was in excellent order this morning. The flags were well out; indeed exceptionally so, there being hardly enough room for three horses to work together. Round Score (McCormac) was the first of the early workers to appear, tho Grcyspear gelding running six furlongs, at threequarter pace. He will contest tho Woraroa Hack Handicap at Levin in which this centre has four candidates, but Taumau will not make the trip. Ebeum (L. H. Jones) and Happy Hunting (Tattersall) ran three furlongs in 58see. The latter, who is a three-ycar-old Hunting Song—Sanctuary marc, displayed a good turn of early speed. Alchemic (Jones) was speeded up over the last two furlongs to como homo in 24sec. Legatee, from the same stable, was restricted to pacework. Tho pair, together with Symcony, will probably go to Auckland for the Christmas lacing. Nothing has boon asked of Symcony since her _ return from the New Zealand Cup meeting. Ringshot (S. Anderson), who is a lazy worker, ran his first furlong m 15sec, and three furlongs in 41 3-Ssee. i nis Lackham—Musket Vein two-yoar-ol.d colt is owned by Mr W. Grey, who intends taking up his residence in Auckland, but the colt will remain ill J. Kelly’s charge meantime, at least. . Severe (Jones) jumped into her stride very quickly and, after leaving the initial furlongs behind in 13scc and two _in 25 4-ssec, completed tho half mile in 51 To Bec —an attractive effort. J. P. Coyle will take the Limond filly to Ellerslie at Christmas for tho Foal Stakes, while Palm will contest the Queen’s Plate and other hack events. , ~ . Bold Jim (Anderson) and Sweet Music (Jones) ran five furlongs in 1.9, after running the first two furlongs in -7 3-5 sec. Bold Jim, who ran second in the highweight at Mastcrton, will revert to the hack distance event at Levin. ; Inveresk (Dance), Boudoir (Lamb). and Flaxen (Anderson) were associated in a seven furlongs gallop. They ran the first two in 29sec, four in 55 3-ssec, and the full distance in 1.36. Inveresk . set tho pace and ■ was clear of Boudoir, with Flaxen beaten off, at tho close of the tfl.sk Lord Moutoa (Tattersall) and Palm (Jones) kept on terms into tho straight, but the former finished the better to complete his task in 1.21. Lord Moutoa will not be asked to race till the B eliding blacksmith (A. McDonald), who has come in from liis spell looking bright and well, ran throe furlongs in 39sec alter having bcon worked on the sand. iho Arrowsmith gelding appeared anxious to go on with it. , Bodyline (Anderson) secured the advantage at the jump-out with . Balbus (Jones), but tho latter was a neck in front at the post at the end of fivo furlongs run in 1.6 1-5. The lust three fui longs were covered in 40sec. , .. , , Sandy Dix (Jones), with a decided advantage in tho poundages, finished too well for Hauivai (B. Browne) after running seven furlongs in 1.37 3-5. The initial furlong took 13 4-ssec. and the ha.f-mile 55 Fuil Throttle (Tattersall) broke away in advance of Note Issue (Jones), but the fillv was on terms at the close after running the last three furlongs in 41see. Both are members of W. Pme s stable. Round Up and a Defoe colt from Mis McDonald’s stable ran three furlongs in 38 2-sscc. It was an excellent perfornv ance on the part of the latter, but Round Up could have bettered the time In Round Up being placed within 71bs of Severe in the Feilding Juvenile Stakes, the handicapper has hardy given Round Up an invitation to fulfil bis engagement and ho will probably bo numbered among the missing on tho day. After breakfast the Lackham—Gaptitulation five-year-old with his trainer J. ICellv in the saddle, slipped over three furlongs in 39 l-ssoc. This fellow has been accorded plenty of time and he should make good. Ho will not be asked to race till Christmas. . , . , . Pango (Parkes), who is being put to the hurdling game, went a round over four fences in company with Callamart (Walters), both giving an excellent display. Walters, who was originally with P. Jt. Pope, at Takanini, has joined L. Knapp s establishment. He has ridden both on the flat and over the fences. RIDERS FOR LEVIN. The following riding engagements have been announced for the Levin meeting : G. Tattersall.—Ebeum. B* H. Morris.—lnstalment. l! H. Jones. —Boudoir, Wasteland. S.' Anderson.—lnveresk, Round Score, True Shaft, Land Tax, Bonnie Vale, Navaho, Bodyline. W. J. Broughton, who attended the Te Rapa meeting, remained in the north for the Takapuna fixture which opens on Saturday. _ _ NEWCOMERS APPEAR.

F. J- Attfield lias secured a full-brother to Golden Chant, who broke a bone in a leg when galloping a month or so ago. The newcomer, who is a three-year-old, carries the cognomen of Bazaine, and he raced five times last season, running second to the Chief Ruler colt Tutor at Masterton, Morbury Golden Chance, Brown Betty, etc., finishing behind him. G. W. New has apparently hopes of getting Beau Gallante right again, for he is working the Top Gallant gelding in his second string. However, he appeared to be lame when trotting round on one of the inner tracks this morning. Mrs McDonald has taken up the TractorButterscotch three-year-old gelding whom she bred herself. He is built on attractive lines. She is also preparing a Colossus— Snowshoo three-year-old filly for Mr E. F. Thwaites, while another recent addition is a six-year-old by Acre from the Bcnzonian mare True Stop. _ This member was not broken in till some six months ago, but ho showed a fair turn of speed in a gallop with the Glen Albyn gelding Bun Tuck this morning. In addition to the Cockpit—Meritorious gelding Full Throttle, W. Pine has a chestnut mare by Diacquenod—Avola, this newcomer being a full-sister to Debut. She carries the name of Vivola, and has come back after a spell of two years. She was accorded five outings as a threc-ye&r-old without gaining a place, but, bred as she is, it will be surprising if she does not make good. L. Knapp is again building up a big team, Callamart, Pango and The Drone having come back from their spells. He has also received the cider full-brother to Inflation, Instalment, who heads. the weights in the scurry event at Levin. Instalment did not race last soasoti, hut he is a speedy sort. The mentor has also received two of the progeny of Centrepiece (The Ace—Equipment), who was a splendid performer when racing in Sir Geo. Clifford’s colours, the one being a big, roomy I mare from Cinnamon, the dam of Pango and Pahu, and the other a four-year-old § elding from the King Mark mare ensible, who raced with a fair measure of success a decade ago.
