CITIZEN’S LUNCH CLUB.

ADDRESS ON HUMOUR

Members of the Palmerston North Citizens’ Lunch Club were to-day entertained by Mr C. A. Lashlie, of Feilding, who, instead of delivering an address of the usual type, told a number of amusing stories which brought forth majiy a laugh. The chair was occupied by the president, Mr A. V. Pizzey, who introduced the speaker. We were told we must keep smiling and no doubt we ought to. said Mr Lashlie. Some said they had to worry, but we should remember that the human mind could accommodate only one thought at a time and if people thought of only the gloomy side of life how could they do else but worry? The speaker said there was a great deal of brightness to be found in the world, and proceeded to recount a number of amusing anecdotes. He traversed a wide field and his tales were fully appreciated. The chairman proposed a vote of thanks to the speaker which was carried by acclamation. Visitors welcomed were Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P., G. McCullum (Palmerston North) and Rev. E. T. Olds (Napier).
