UTUWAI.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) UTUWAI, Nov. 10. There was a large attendance at the November meeting of the Women’s Institute which was held in the hall last Wednesday. Mrs Flavoll presided and extended a warm welcome to the visitors. Business in connection with the Christmas tree party was discussed and it was decided to hold the function in the afternoon this year instead of the evening; the date has not yet been finally decided on. The Utvnvai and Umutoi school committees have very generously given the instituto the proceeds from the children’s fancy dress ball to help with the funds. It was decided to send our link in England a Christmas copy of a weekly paper and a calendar for Christmas. Following the disposal of business, Mrs Barnicoat, of Kimbolton, gave a very useful and interesting talk on homo nursing which was much appreciated by all, after which the demonstration of bouquet and wreath making, given by Mrs Haythorne, was watched with interest, A beautiful posy and wreath and also some pieces of pine necdlo work were exhibited and were ereatly admired. Both visitors were accorded a vote of thanks. There were a record number of entries for the points prize competitions, which wore judged y the visitors, the results being :-Best loaf of home-made broad Mrs Darkness 1, Mrs Hemmimrs 2, Mrs Forbes 3. Best nut loaf: Miss D. Hemmings 1, Mrs. Enright 2 Mrs MacKenzie 3. The bring and buy stall was well stocked and was left in the hands of Mrs Wynne and Miss IX Clioyne. The hostesses, Mesdamcs C. feoarle and E Buckman and Miss J. Searle, served afternoon tea, after which a pleasant afternoon was brought to a close.
