Armistice Day was observed at Gibraltar. Guns thundering salvoes from the Rock began and ended the two minutes’ silence.
Signor Mussolini reviewed the armed fprees and young Fascists’ organisations in Rome.
A parade of troops was held before Marshal Pilsudski in Warsaw in celebration of the anniversary of Poland’s independence. A high tide in Venice flooding St. Mark’s Square two feet deep confined the celebrants to the churches.
The King and Queen of Belgium and Burgomaster Max, with thousands of allied ex-soldiers, joined in the ceremonies in Brussels. The British residents of Belgian towns attended special services.
The citizens of Mons gave a civic reception to members of the Old Contemptibles’ Association. Serbian papers published long eulogies in gratitude of Anglo-Amorican assistance in war time.
