A new financial scandal, which the newspapers declare may have political reactions, broke out with the arrest of Joseph Levy, a director of a finance company which specialised in buying claims for compensation l'or war damage. Many claimants handed over bonds, which Levy allegedly sold - or pledged to cover private debts. The losses to creditors are estimated at £1,000,000.
