AN APPRECIATION.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —As a visitor to your fair city, I walked into a local theatre on Saturday night and to my surprise and delight I heard and saw an orchestra in tlie flesh and blood. After a world famous singer had beautifully rendered three songs, especially “Danny Boy to an orchestral accompaniment, 1 was delighted- to hear the orchestra render two pieces. Apart from the singing the gem of the evening was that good old song, “The Lost Chord, wonderfully interpreted by the cornetist of the orchestra. Though small the orchestra, for the theatre, was well balanced, right from the violins to bass viol, the latter a beautifully toned instrument. It shows initiative on the part of the management, and 1 am going again just to hear Fanny Boy” and “The Lost Chord. —I am, etC '’ WELLINGTON VISITOR.
