SHEARING OPERATIONS
WELL ADVANCED IN POHANGINA.
Reports from a number of parts of the Poliangina County indicate that shearing operations are well advanced in that area. In the lower country numerous sheds are already cut out, while shearing is either in full swing or just about to begin in many others. The spell of dry weather lias aided the sheepowners in no small measure, and in the higher back country, where the bidi-bidi is showing signs of being early this year in reaching the stage when it clings to the fleece, the dry days of the past fortnight have allowed many flocks to he dealt with. Even in the Apitl and IJmntoi districts quite a number of farms have either finished or reached tile stage where only a few days _ are needed to allow the final musterings to he sent through the shed. In the hilly country a good fall of rain would be appreciated, while in the lower section fine weather is required. Generally speaking pastures have been holding well.
