The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s spring meeting was hold in beautiful weather and the course was in splendid order. There was a good attendance. Greenore, a rank outsider, created a sensation in the Trial Stakes and the dividend was over tho double eentury. The totalisator handled £5528, as against £5732 for eight races last year. Also started: 6-6 AVinter Sport 9.0, 4-4 Grumpy 9.0, 5-5 Glasslough 9.0. Grumpy, Heliotype, and AVinter Sport led in the early stages, but Anemometer drew level with the leaders entering the straight and won easily by seven lengths from the favourite. Heliotype was five lengths further away. Time, 2.47 2-5.

Thane and Silver Song immediately took charge, leading to tho straight. The winner, the outsider, was running sixth and taking the lead a furlong from tho post he won easily by two lengths from The Grasper who boat the favourite by a nose. Time, 1.8 2-5. The favourite secured an early lead, winning easily by two and a half lengths, Happy Landing getting up to beat De Friend on the post by half a lengih. Time, 49 2-5.
