ANNUAL DISTRICT SYNOD.
The annual District Synod of the Methodist Churches of Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay will meet at St. 1 aul s Church next week. . . The ministers and home missionaries will meet on Tuesday morning at 9.30, when questions in connection with probationers and candidates for the ministry will be considered. In the evening a public meeting will be held. The visitors will be welcomed by the Mayor, and by one of the St. Paul’s circuit stewards. An address will be given by ltev. E. T. Olds and several musical items will be rendered. On Wednesday morning the whole Synod will meet for Communion service at 9 a.m. and will then deal with Church business as set forth in reports from various departments. Ihe findings on these reports will be forwarded to the Conference, which meets in Dunedin next February.
The membership of tlie Synod _ is about 50 in number, Representatives and ministers coming from circuits extending from Gisborne to Paliiatua and to Foxton and Halcombe. Rev. A. N. Scotter, of St. Paul’s, is tlie chairman and Rev. E. T. Olds, of Napier, is the secretary. The business is expected to be completed by Thursday afternoon.
