CARNIVAL BALL.
On Monday evening the Do Luxe Hall should present a spectacular scene when the official ball marks the opening of the Quden Carnival. At an appropriate occasion during the evening the candidates for the offico of Queen of the carnival will be officially introduced to the Mayor and Mayoress, who will declare the _ carnival open. A novelty in the introduction of an alternate programme of modern and oldtime dances will ensure an opportunity for followers of both forme of dancing to enjoy a full evening’s programme, and separate orchestras have been engaged. Larkin’s Band is famous for its modern music, whilst Loved ay’s orchestra is second to none for old-time tunes. The supper if? under the control of the combined ladies’ committees of the three bands and this is a guarantee that this department will in itself be a feature of the evening. Tho carnival committees aim to make the 1934 carnival bigger and brighter than its predecessors, and no effort will be spared to make Monday’s function an outstanding success
