DUKE IN COUNTRY.
CHEERED BY WORKMEN,
MELBOURNE, Nov. 8. The Duke of Gloucester spent tins morning in a motor tour in the Dandenong ranges, picturesque hill country close to Melbourne. Although it was intended as a quiet morning free from the pomp and circumstance of official formalities, the Duke was unable to- escape the desire of the residents of the lull country to honour him. The journey soon invested itself with all the clamour of an official Royal progress. At one stage a party of roadmakers mounted on a gaily decorated lorry, enthusiastically wavfd flags and cheered the passing Royal car. The Duke suitably acknowledged the greeting.
