LABOUR MEETING.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —I should like through your columns to ask Mr E. IV. Ward, president of the Palmerston North branch of the New Zealand Labour Party, if lie will be good enough to tell the electors of this city why Mr Ormond Wilson refused at the last minute to lecture to members at last night’s meeting. I personally know that about one hundred members were present and some took a personal friend. Friends were asked to appreciate the position of Mr Wilson’s non-arrival and leave the hall as it was to become a private meeting of members.

There were whispers outside and I could hear the leader shouting and pleading for loyalty to the movement, although they had received a blow. I admired his spirit," but feol something is seriously wrong with the New Zealand Labour Party. Rumours are Tife. I understand that there is discontent over the local selection. I suggest as an onlooker that he has faced the barrier many times but fails to make the pace. Possibly last night’s tremendous disappointment had a bearing on this subject. In closing I should like Mr Ward to give a satisfactory answer to last night’s position as there are many who want to know the true political position liefore election day, as once recorded it will take four years to undo. —Yours, TURNED AWAY.
