EXCHANGE OF TEACHERS.
NEW ZEALAND AND ABROAD. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 8. Regulations relating to the exchange of New Zealand teachers with teachers from another part of the British Empire are contained in the Gazette issued to-night. The regulations provide that the Education Department of New Zealand shall act as intermediary to effect exchanges. The exchange shall be for a period of one year, exclusive of travelling time, but in special circumstances further leave without pay may be granted. New Zealand teachers selected for exchange will be required to undertake to return to the New Zealand education service for a period of at least three years. No applicant will be accepted for exchange who is not 25 years of age or has less than five years’ teaching experience, exclusive of service as a probationer or student, or is over 45. , The education authorities abroad will be asked to submit reports on the character of the work done by the New Zealand teachers and on their return to New Zealand the teachers will be required to furnish the Director of Education with a report on their work and experiences abroad.
