AMERICAN GOLFERS.
VICTORY AT BRISBANE,
BRISBANE, Nov. 7. In their first match appearance in Australia to-day the American professional golfers beat Queensland in four of the singles, the other two being halved. Details are:— D. Sliute beat H. Sinclair, 3 and 2; H. Cooper and A. Denholm, all square; P. Runyan beat Quarton, 2 and I; K. Laffoon heat Gazzard, 6 and 5; L. Deigel and C. Brown, all square; Craig Wood heat Walker, 4 and 2. Sliute and Deigel beat Walker and Brown, 6 and 5.
GOLFERS AT MELBOURNE,
SHAW’S BRILLIANT SEVENTH
Received November 8. 12.20 p.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 8. The visiting golfers are practising for the Centenary championship, which opens on Monday. A. J. Shaw (New Zealand), with a brilliant 70, had the best round of the day, jilaying all his shots perfectly and hitting very long woods. Kirkwood did 72 and Sarazen 73.
