CROQUET COMPETITIONS.
OlioUA AND ST. JOHN’S CLUBS.
A large number of members of the Oroua Croquet Club were present at the courts on Tuesday afternoon when a competition for the stars was played with the Manawatu Croquet Club. The holders, Mesdames J. Petrie and Wood, of Oroua, defeated the Manawatu challengers, Mesdames Langford and Mitchell, by 26 points to 19. Playing for the Hicks gold buttons, Mesdames Hutton and Whibley (Oroua) defeated Mesdames Pearson and Bowater 26 —17. A match for the combined buttons took place on the St. John’s green, Mr and Mrs Golding defeating Mesdallies Knight and White (Central) by 26 to 23.
