RONGOTEA, Nov. 7. Tho continued interest in tho Women’s Institute movement was evident by the activity in Rongotca yestorday afternoon when sixty mombers of the local institute met in the Coronation HalL for tho regular monthly meeting. Mrs R. Scott presided and there was a spirit of enthusiasm and good cheer, that was in keeping with a day of brilliant sunshine. Miss Grant, of Palmerston North, in an interesting chat told the story of tho beginnings of tho institute, and the amazing way it had developed during recent years in New Zealand. Mrs R. Scott was the recipient of a small token from members of tho Drama Circle. Mrs Cavcrhill, in making the presentation, spoke of the valuable assistance, given by . Mrs Scott in tho recent aetivitios of the circle. Tho competition for a child’s knitted singlot resulted in somo beautiful and original work being entered. Awards wero as follow Senior, Mrs C. Davison 1 and 2; Mrs J. Glover 3; Junior, Miss M. Hunt 1, Miss V. Hobbs 2, Miss L. Rowe 3. The hostesses were Mcsdamcs Woods, Collins and Bickers, Misses Richfield, Davison, and Bowler.
Owing, no doubt, to counter attractions, tliero was only a moderate attendance at the euchre and dance hold by tho Rongotca Football Club last night.
