WOODVILLE JOCKEY CLUB.
INCREASED STAKES. It will come as a pleasing intimation to iceal and district owners to learn that the Woodville Jockey Club is increasing the stakes for its summer meeting next month. Tho programme discloses that a total of £1345 is being offered for the two days as compared with £1205 last year. Very wisely tho club has spread the additional money and only one event each day—the hurdles on the opening day and tho Juvenile Handicap on the second day—remains unaltered. The increase where the Bolton Memorial Handicap and the Mangarawa Hack Handicap are concerned is £ls in each instance, while on tho second day £2O has been added to the Railway Handicap—tho open sprint—which now carries a stake of £IOO. The club is thus prepared to offer an additional £l4O and-it is hoped that its enterprise and confidence will meet with a fitting reward.
