(From Our Own Correspondent.) COLYTON, Nov. 7.
The monthly mooting of the Women’s Institute was held on Tuesday afternoon, when a largo attendance was presided over by Airs Beatson. Before the commencement of the routine business, the members were asked to stand in silence in sympathy with Miss Pearce, who recently suffered the loss of her father. A bright report of the federation half-yearly meeting was read by Miss Wales, and Mrs Bingham, of Podding, delighted the company with two songs. Mrs Dowrick, of Feilding, gave an artistic demonstration on floral arrangements, working with a largo bowl of flowers. The whole afternoon was given over to floral work. Air F. Alason, of Feilding, giving an interesting talk on the growing and care of dahlias. Both the visitors were accorded a vote ot thanks. Two competitions were held, one, .for a hand posy, being won by Aliss L. Adsett, with Aliss H. Hocken second and Aliss Y. Vilos third, and one for a bowl of cut flowers, by Airs W. Bussell, Miss N. Hansen second and Airs 11. Ilcckon third. The hostesses, Mcsdamos Krnll, A. E. Jefferies, A. G. Jefferies and Miss Jefferies, served afternoon tea, after which a pleasant afternoon was brought to a close. At the December meeting there is to be a Christmas bring-and-buy stall, and a matchbox competition will be held.
