FORTUNATE ARREST.

“He is one of the lucky ones,” said Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., when a first offender, aged 72 years, appeared on a charge of drunkenness. The police said that accused, who is a visitor to Christchurch, when arrested outside the Riocarton racecourse late yesterday afternoon, had £IOO in notes in his pockets. This was just after the races had finished and he was being pestered by bystanders. He was fined 20s and costs.
