FEILDING ASSOCIATION REPORT

The annual report of the Feilding and District Public Schools Amateur Athletic Association states as follows: “The credit balance for the year just closed amounts to £l2 19s Id as against £l6 17s 7d for the previous year, the loss just equalling the difference in the gate takings between this and the previous year. The usual payments were made to the schools sports fund. Membership fees and donations amounted to £l2 19s, two donations of £1 Is and one of 10s being received. The financial members numbered 57, an increase of 5 over the previous year. It is hoped and anticipated that the present year will show a marked increase in membership. The 14th annual sports meeting was held on Ivowhai Park on March 11, a most successful day’s sporting resulting. The number of children participating and the interest shown by the spectators can he accepted as an indication of the popularity of the sports, and of appreciation of the efforts of the committee ; in the organisation and conducting of | them. In this connection it is fit--1 ting to record the committee’s apprei ciaiion of the work done by the secretary (Mr Lange), whose organising ability is largely responsible for the success which attends these sports. The trophies competed for were won as follow: —Guthrie Shield (hoys), Manchester Street School; McCorkinda'e Rose Bowl (girls), Lytton Street School; Country Schools Cup, Kopane

School; Collins Aiemorial Shield (sole charge schools), Pohangina, llewa and Tiakitahuna, tied. The' thanks ot the association are due to Alcssrs A. R. Aliens (auditor), E. A. Garliclt, E. Flintoff ,and to the ladies of the Dental Clinic Committee for their assistance in conducting tlie refreshment tent, also to tlie teachers of Palmerston North schools who acted as judges, to the Piess and to the parents who gave their support.”
