BULLS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Aug. 18. A special meeting of the Town Board was held on Thursday evening to consider the question of road reconstruction and tar-sealing. There were present: Messrs J. E. Walker (chairman), E. A. Holland, C. M. Broughton, C. H. Edwards, D. Lundy and the town clerk. A letter was read from the board’s solicitor (Mr R. Alackay) stating that the Highways Board was now prepared to subsidise the work on both the Taranaki—Wellington and Taihapc—Bulls highways at the rate of £3 to £l, and members of tho board expressed pleasure at the outcome of the negotiations. Tenders were then considered and accepted. It is understood that the road construction contract will be commenced almost immediately, and that tar-scaling operations will follow during the summer months. Tho following is tho draw for the L.G.U. Modal and third qualifying round for the Rangitiki-.i Ladies’ Golf Club championships, to be played on Tuesday, play to commence at 12 noon:—Silver and Bronze: Mrs Goodall v.
