(From Our Own Correspondent.) BUNNYTHORPE, Aug. 3.

The Bunnythorpc Debating Ciub hold a successful meeting on Monday. There was a large attendance and Mr 0. Jackson presided. Mr F. McKenzie was the judge of the debate between tho junior members of the Bunnythorpe Club and the Feilding High School debating team, tho subject being “Can War lie Prevented ?” Bunnythorpe took the negative side, the spoakers being Mr A. Hill (leader), Miss Weastcl (second) and Mr W. B. Cameron. For Feilding High School Mr Dowrich was leader, Miss Williamson second and Mbs Coleman tho other . member. Both sides ably debated tho subject and provided some sound argument. After both leaders had roplied the subject was reviewed by come mombera of tho audience and the judge, in congratulating the members on the able way in which they had carried out the debate, gave his verdict in favour of the Feilding team. ' Mr Ross, of the Feilding High School staff, congratulated Bunnythorpe on its Debating. Club and the large number who took an interest in debating, which was an education to them. Ho wished them every success and promised to give them an address on debating and its objects at an early date. The lady members of tho club provided supper. The Bunnythorpe Ladies' Hockey Club held a successful dance in tho hall on Wednesday, there being a largo attendance, including visitors of tho Palmerston North and Feilding teams who played a Harper Cup match at Bunnythorpe, also the louring Wairarapa football team on their return home from Feilding, the latter breaking their journey. An enjoyable time was spent. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr H. Robson, and tho ladies are to bo congratulated on the success of the gathering. The euchre prizes were won by Mr and Mrs J. O’Donnell. The Bunnythorpe ladies’ hockey team are going to Taihapo on August 9 to take part in a tournament there. Mr F. Robbie, of Thames, was a visitor to Bunnythorpe during,the week.
