The meeting discussed the notice of motiou, to be considered at the society’s annual meeting that the chairman of the council hold, office for no longer than two years ih succession and, although no motion was passed, tire feeling of the meeting -was that the proposed step was an unwise one it being pointed out that the office had’ been held for 20 years by Mr Tripp, illustrating the service rendered the society by the accumulation of experience. * It was decided to recommend the Wellington Society to approach the Eeilding Society to endorse up to ten shooting licenses provided a reciprocal arrangement can be secured. Mr P. W. Willson (ranger) reported that 40 pheasants had been liberated on the foothills of the Haurangi reserve between tho Waihoru and the Tauranganui Rivers, while 30 had also been liberated near Levin and 30 at Wainui-o-Mata, as well as smaller numbers in the Wellington area, the grand total being 126. Of 30 remaining, ten had been allocated to Palmer ston North. Mr T. Andrews (ranger) reported on the extent of his operations. Mr Matthews raised the matter of honorary rangers’ warrants, saying he believed the time was opportune, for a revision. The only record was in the minute hooks and apart from this it would not be ascertainable how many rangers there were. It was quite conceivable that some persons to whom warrants had been issued were now deceased. It was decided to request tlie Wellington Society to supply a list of warrants and to request a revision. The meeting decided to request that licenses to firti at Taupo be issued at Palmerston North.
