THE RELIEF WORKERS.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —May I draw attention, through the medium of your paper, to the general good behaviour of the two demonstrations by the relief workers yesterday. For years now their position lias been going from bad to worse and they have taken it all —till now. Men and women, standing in the streets for hours fighting for life- —the right to live, and live with their families—-yet they sang and joked most heartily, and, above all, though feelings ran high awaited with great patience for the verdict. What could be more exasperating than to see the leading man of our country—supported by the concrete post behind him —standing there unable to reply to questions put to him ? Men, stick to your guns! Don t allow the Government to break up your homes. Would they—each man accept such orders? Perhaps a better pen than mine can criticise Mr Hamilton’s speech to the Lunch Club. Apparently, lie is on a very superior plane indeed, but a taste of relief hardships might alter his opinion.— 1 <,to " N.A.J.
