LOAN CONVERSIONS.
LOCAL' BOD V PROSPECTS. Per Press Association. CHRlfti CTI c RCii, May it. The Mayor, Mr D.. G. Sullivan, M.l’., who returned to the city this morning, states that in Wellington, as president of the Municipal Association, ne discussed with Treasury officials the question ot calling a conference, of local bodies with loans domiciled overseas, with a view to considering the possibility of a block conversion scheme. Tie iound no opposition to the idea of a conierencc, but tlie expert viewpoint was that tho prospects of effecting a block conversion were not bright, the principal difficulty being the attitude of the London sitock Exchange. Further consideration is to be given to the subject.
