(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, May 2.
Tho Bulls Bowling- Club closed the season on Wednesday with a progressive pairs tournament. Six Marton bowlers took part, and when darkness set in there were six players with four wins and one loss apiece. They were; —Leads : Way, Powell, and Brown; skips, Marr, Goebel, and Drew. These players generously donated the prize-money to tho club funds. At tho conclusion Mr J. H. Perrett, president- of the Bulls Bowling Club, thanked the visitors for their attendance, and said that closing day was a fitting ending to a very good season. He called on his club mates to sing “Auld Lang Syne.” Mr A. Way, speaking for the Martonians, said that all had enjoyed the outing greatly, and he looked forward to an interchange of players next year. The tournament had been a mostinteresting one, and tho hospitality of the Bulls Club had added to the enjoyment. Bulls Rugby seniors to play Toko-Stan-way seniors at Bulls on Saturday have been selected as follow:—Shaw, T. Prichard, Preston, James, W. Bromley, L. Homes, R. Carter, T. Dwyer, F. Cutts, P. Governor, F. Gabites, W. Barrell, R. Bromley, J. Henderson, and F. Stock. Ohakca Rugby juniors to play Sanson at Sanson on Saturday are :—Bartlett, Grell, Ellery (2), Quinlan, Robinson, Twomoy, R. Penc, Brassington, Rota, Ayres, Wilton, Wiggins, Knight, and Hazelwood. Emergencies: Bright-well, N. Cockburn and Turner.
Oliakea hockey piayers to mcot_ Carnar von on Saturday at Ohakea: —Misses M Taylor, N. Ellery, E. Ellery, I. Ellery, M Murray, K. Taylor, J. Murray, P. Cap stick, N. Capstick, T. Harris and M. Tre main.
The L.G.U. medal rounds were played on the Rangitikei golf links on Tuesday afternoon in fine weather. The best cards returned were:—Silver and bronze: Mrs Carter, 96 —22—74 ; Miss O. Lovett, 101—27 —74; Miss B. Stevens, 108—33—75. Mrs D. W. Wilson returned the best card in the junior grade. Tho game shooting- season has been “patchy” in this district, the weather being too calm and bright, while light easterly breezes sent tho ducks out to sea at tho first alarm. Ilis Excellency the Gov-ernor-General, who shot with Mr R. Wilson at Lake Ilunia, had only moderate luck, the party only getting 30 ducks on the opening clay. On Lake Alice (Mr W. Wilson’s property) six guns accounted for 20 ducks, and other tallies are as follow: Simpson’s party at Nursery Lake, Heaton Park, 45 with 8 guns; Smith’s party of six, 60; W. Twigg and companion at Lake Mount, 23": Rev. Mr Leonard’s party at Round’Bush, the limit (30); Whittington’s j.ake parly of seven, 40; H. Smith’s party at oSler’s Lake, 17 for 3 guns; R. O. Dalrymple and three others at Lower Lake Ilunia, 5; V. Barnes and two others on Turakina Road lagoons, 13; W. Dean and two others at Raumai, 9; F. Simpson and two others at Raumai, 20; E. Simpson and another at tho same place, 12.
