SUPREME COURT.

At the Supreme Court yesterday aft ternoon, before Mr Justice Fair James Courtney, a farm hand, aged 24, was charged with a certain offence, at Mangatiti, Pahiatua, on February 24, 1934. Accused entered a plea of not guilty. He was represented by Mr \ J. M. Gordon, Mr H. R. Cooper conducting the case for the Crown. The jury was as follows : —Messrs W. ■Wilson (foreman), J. Autridge, W. ;i Whibley, H. D. Howley, J. R. Penketh W. Hodges, E. D. Donovan, M. 1 N. ’McLaughlin, S. R. Waugh, I. Cooksley, F. F. Bendall and C. Wood. The Court was cleared for the hearing of evidence, which had not concluded when the Court adjourned last j evening. . ! The case was continued to-day. The jury retired at 11.50 a.m. and returned at 12.15 p-m. with a verdict of not guilty. The hearing of a charge of a serious i nature against Robert Denis Buckley, i a farmer, of Mangatiti, Pahiatua, was commenced. Mr Cooper conducted the jj case for the Crown, while Mr A. M. 'i Ongley appeared for accused, who entered a plea of not guilty. The jury was as follow:—Messrs E. W. Simmons (foreman), L. S. Signal, R. J. Wright, R. J. Andrews, T. B. Worrall, H. W. Tweeddale, W. H. Moore, H. Reid, N. Lawrence, W. P. Lindsay, V. A. W. Robinson and. C. R. Robotham.

The Court was cleared and the t publication of evidence forbidden by His Honour. The hearing of evidence was in progress when the luncheon adjournment was taken.
