RANFURLY SHIELD.
NO TOURING MATCHES. CANTERBURY UNION’S DECISION. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 18. That the Ranfurly Shield shall not be taken on tour this season was decided by the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union. The reason was that the Canterbuiy representative team would probably be depleted through some of its members being chosen for the All Black tour in Australia. In view of this decision, a request from the Marlborough Union for a shield match against Canterbury at Blenheim was declined. Mr J. H. Harris, the former ;AII Blade, was appointed sole Canterbury Rugby selector for the season.
