LAWN TENNIS.

MANAWATU ASSOCIATION. The management committee of the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association met on Monday evening, those present being Messrs J. T. McDonald (chairman), D. I. Robertson, C. Yates, S. Stannard, and N. Hanson. The meeting decided, on the motion of Mr Yates, seconded by Mr Stannard, that letters should be sent to the Palmerston North and Longburn Clubs congratulating them on winning their respective grades in the inter-club competitions. 11l view of the fact that it could not affect the result, it was decided that a remaining doubles match in the schools’ competition should not be played. A donation is to be made to Mr J. Kershaw, groundsman at the Palmerston North Club, for His valuable services throughout the season. ' MEETING OF DELEGATES. Subsequently a meeting of delegates was held, those present being Messrs J. T. McDonald, chairman (Palmerston North), N. Hanson (Hokowhitu), H. N. Watson, D. I. Eiobertson, and C. C. Yates (Palmerston North), S. Stannard (Northern), F. McLachlan (Terrace End), F. J. Patterson (West End), and J. Christie (Takaro). Mr Yates moved and Mr Stannard seconded that the annual general meeting of the association should be held during the first week in October of each year, notice of motion having been given.—The'motion was lost. Upon the motion of Mr McLachlan, seconded by Mr Hanson, the meeting endorsed notices of motion given by Mr Watson to be forwarded t.o the New Zealand Association. The first set out that the rules should be so altered to provide that a junior player should be one who was under the ago of 18 years on the first day of a competition, and the second that a.n alteration should be made to the rules providing that no affiliated association or club should grant exemption to any competitor in a tournament for more than one day’s play, or permit the transfer of the entry of any one person to another.
