VICTIM OF TERRIFIC EXPLOSION Per Press Association. WAIEJ, April 10. _ Roderick Lockett, a young mechanic employed in Roberts and Maliony’s garage, sustained terrible facial injuries as the result of an explosion in a 40-gallon steel drum containing a small quantity of carbide. Lockett was applying an acetylene flame for boring the centre of the lid of the drum and a terrific explosion followed, hurling the steel lid through the iron roof. It is feared that Lockett will lose his sight.
