(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILSON, April 8. The final rard evening of a series conducted to raise funds for St. Patrick's Parish bazaar was held at the residence of Mrs O. Oliver on Friday, and was marked by the best attendance to date. Progressive euchre was played, and some keen games resulted. Mosdamcs Calleson, Dunn, and Castel tied for the ladies’ prize, Mrs Castel winning the cut. For the ladies’ consolation prize, Mesdames Shand, Grigg, Bartlett, and King finished equal, and the out favoured Mrs Grigg. Mr Condor was. the winner of the men’s prize, a consolation award being mado to Mr E. Bulmer. The ladies served a dainty supper. An enjoyable evening was spent in tho hall, last night, when the Progressive Association continued its scries of weekly dances. Mr T. Cummings was the M.C. and a popular programme of old-time dances was submitted. The attendance was close to being a record, and augurs well for tho success of the functions during the winter months. As on past occasions, a committee of ladies donated and served a dainty supper, after which the dance continued till a late hour.

The monthly meeting of the Progressive Association was held in the hall to-day, tho chairman (Mr J. C. A. Donaldson) presiding. A request, from tho Milson Tennis Club for a donation to assist in making a now court was deferred until the annual mooting, to bo hold next month, and a further suggestion regarding social functions to be held during the winter months received favourable consideration. An offer to provide free milk at tho association’s weekly dances was received and accepted, tho donor to bo thanked for his kindness. Tho committee set jip to deal with necessary repairs to the swings in the children’s playing area reported that tho work was completed without cost. A icttor from the General Manager of Railways regarding a complaint received by him was left in the hands of the chairman and secretary to deal with. The secretary head the statements of t : ho weekly dances conducted by the association. The finances indicated that the association was in a position to reconsider the charges mado to residents for the use of the hall, and a flat rate per hour was decided on. the effect making a big reduction in most eases. Tho chairman’s report on relief works in the settlement was received. The times of lighting up and extinguishing tho street lights at Milson was brought up. and the chairman reported having brought the matter before the proper authorities. A complaint was received regarding stock wandering on tho roads, and entering private gardens, and tho ranger is to be advised of tho fact. It was decided to extend the time of tho social evenings to midnight and to commence half-an-hour earlier during tho winter months.
