FIGURES FOR THE QUARTER, The returns issued by the Magistrate’s Court show that during the year ending March 31 74 criminal cases were heard locally as compared with 67 in the previous year, while during the same period 142 summonses had been issued. The latter figures showed a. decrease of 32 in comparison with 1932-33. Plaints entered numbered 318, and of a total of £2864 13s 9d sued for the sum of £2380 14s 9d was collected, whereas in the preceding twelve months the plaints numbered 390 and a total of £4716 17s 8d was involved £4237 16s 2d being collected.
