DISCUSSION BY JUSTICES.

A remit favouring amendment of the marriage law to prohibit as far as possible union of the unfit, also the presentation of medical certificates, was moved by Mr J. T. Griffin (Taranaki) at the meeting of the Justices Federation this morning. There was an animated discussion and the conference carried an amendment moved by Mr J. W. Dove (Otago) “that the time is now ripe for the Government to take definite action in the direction of sterilisation of the mentally and medically unfit.” The voting was twelve to four. LIQUOR FOR GIRLS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 13. Drinking by young people, especially In cabarets, was discussed at length a remit that it should be made a criminal offence to supply liquor to females under the a.ge of 21, Mr A. H. Hobbs (Canterbury) said that girls were supplied all too frequently with liquor at dances.
