PRINCE DOWN MINE.
EXPERIENCE AT JOHANNESBURG. Received March 14, 11.30 a.m. JOHANNESBURG, March 13. Prince George descended the shaft of the Crown Mine, one of the largest gold mines in Johannesburg, and at 7000 feet below the earth’s surface explored the wonders of a modern gold mine and witnessed the natives drilling ricli ore. The miners, who were wearing steel helmets as a protection against falling rock, stood to attention, many of them wearing war medals.
Half-naked natives worked in the stopes.
