MARTON, March 12. During the week-end four rinks of bowlers from Marton visited Waverley. The play in the morning resulted in Waverley obtaining a lead of 18 points and in the afternoon added 46 to their total, winning on the grand aggregate by 64 points. The Marton Tennis Club sent a team to play Wanganui East Club on Saturday, and the result was a win for the visitors by 17 sots to 15. The defeat of Hunterville. the leading team in the Rangitikei cricket competition, by the runnners-up, Old Boys, on Saturday, lends added interest to the closing stages of the final round. Porewa improved their position for third place by defeating Marton. narrowly missing a five-point win. Old Boys have one more game to play, and Hunterville two—one a postponed game with Porewa. If Hunterville lose both and Old Boys have another win, the latter will finish on top. If Marton defeat Hunterville and Porewa defeat Old Boys in the next games, Porewa will have to play both their postponed games (v. Hunterville and Marton) before the championship can be decided. If Marton defeat Hunterville and Old Boys defeat Porewa. Old Boys will be on top. If Hunterville defeat Marton, Hunterville will be champions.
