MILSON

(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILSON, March 14. The annual picnic of the Milson School was held at the Esplanade. In the eany part of the day the weather looked anything but promising, but it eventually cleared and a most enjoyable outing was provided for the children. Mr M. R. McEwen and members of the School Committee bad charge of the arrangements for the day and put through a varied programme of athletic sports. The Herbert Smith Trust Cup for the boys was won by Gordon Johanson, and that for the girls by Phyllis Chalk. In the race for married ladies, a dead heat was declared between Mrs Grigg and Mrs Jacobs, and it was decided that the pair race tho distance again. Mrs Jacobs won tho run-off. Tho children, many of whom were accompanied by their parents, wore conveyed from Milson to the picnic ground by bus. The committee contributed free cordials, fruit, sweets, and ice-creams to tho children, and arrangements were made for hot water. The site of the picnic ground with its shelter and playing area proved ideal.
