(From Our Own Correspondent.) COLYTON, March 13. On Saturday, a most enjoyable cricket match was played in Mr H. Shepherd’s property at Colyton, when the local eleven met'a team representing Pohangina Valley. Lunch and atternoon tea were served by the Colyton ladies. The harvest festival service was held at St. Andrew’s Church, Colyton, on Sunday last, a very large congregation being present. There was a plentiful supply of fruit and vegetables and the church was decorated with beautiful flowers. Rev. Canon Petrie conducted the service, taking his sermon from the parable of “The Sower.” Special music was also rendered. The school has been closed for two days to allow the teaching staff to attend the teachers’ conference in Feilding. Miss M. Shortall, assistant teacher at the school, has been transferred to Wellington. Up to the present time no other teacher has been appointed in her place. A chimney crashed through the roof of the school during the earthquake.
