DEATH OF COOK

FOUND AVITH AVOUNDS. Per Press Association. AVAIPUIvURAU, March 12. The tragic happening whereby a c.ook named Jack AA’illiams, employed at the late Sir George Hunter’s Porangahau station, lost his life while visiting Papakihihau station, about thirty miles from AVaipukurau, occurred about 5.30 yesterday afternoon in the kitchen of the men’s quarters. It is understood that deceased was in company with another cook, Harry Capeweil, employed on the estate of the late Paul Hunter, at Papakihihau, and was found with wounds, evidently caused by a large knife about- twelve inches long, sharp and pointed, which was found nearby, on -the left arm, left shoulder, left side of the throat and right cheek, these quickly Droving fatal. Information available tends to show that both men were usually oil good terms and also popular among their associates. AVilliams is about 35 years old and Capewell’s ago is 63. Both were reputedly ex-seafaring men with naval service.
