THE WEATHER
RAIN DEVELOPING. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 3. The weather in New Zealand is still controlled mainly by the anti-cyclone centred near the Chatham Islands, which has increased somewhat in intensity. The cyclone located yesterday on the coast of New South Wales is apparently moving southwards and is likely to miss New Zealand. The weather, however, will probably gradually become unsettled m most parts. Forecast: Moderate to strong northerly winds, rising to gale force in places. "Weather: Fair and warm to hot at first, but with increasing cloud and unsettled conditions likely after about 24 hours, with rain developing. Seas rough. RIVER GAUGE. Noon.—lft. 3ins.
