At the Woodville Show Mr F. E. Perry had entered the champion bull in the Shorthorn section; Mr C. Woodley the champion bull in the Ayrshire section, and Mr S. R. Lancaster the champion bull in the Jersey section. The champion dairy cow of the show had been entered by Mr Lancaster. The best dairy cow had been entered by Mr J. McCaffrey, whose entry had given 2.6011 b of butterfat for one day’s milk when tested. The London Times had stated that there was much political unrest in Russia. Frequent murders of officials wore taking place and even the Social Democrats, usually on"the side of law and order, were adopting terrorist measures. At Baku, it was reported that the Armenians and Jews were wearing black and refusing to visit places of amusement as a protest against Russian policy towards their people.

Very little poultry was coming forward from the Wellington province for shipment to South Africa, it was 6aid. A keen local demand was absorbing all the birds available, which were fetching high prices. A new cheese factory had been opened at Rongokokako, about four miles from Eketahuna.
