CHANGEABLE WEATHER.
A BENEFICIAL RAINFALL. Changeable weather conditions have prevailed in the Manawatu for the past month. Following the cold and boisterous conditions of Labour Day weekend, milder weather prevailed and brought a beneficial downpour of rain on Sunday morning. Later, there was a sharp drop in the temperature. The southern Manawatu experienced similar conditions to those of the preceding week-end, the main Tararua Range again being under snow, while a light frost was seen in the Levin district. Yesterday morning broke fine, but early in the evening a strong wind blew up and again brought rain. During the 48 hours ended to-day 86 points of rain had been recorded by Mr T. R. Moore, of “Waimarama,” Terrace End. This has been of immense benefit in freshening up drying pastures and giving badly-needed moisture to the district. A cold easterly wind was blowing to-day.
