Rev. H. G. Goring, minister of the Baptist Church at Wanganui, is to leave at the end of the year in answer to a call from Avondale, Auckland. Rev. W. A. Fox, formerly of New York, and Rev. R. Beaulieu, formerly of Montreal, who are on their way to Melbourne, where they will take iip duties in connection with St. Francis s Church, were through passengers by the Aorangi this week. Mr and Mrs T. Madge, of Grey Street, and Mr and Mrs L. J. Madge, of Bryant Street, accompanied by Mr P. Easton (Foxtonl, returned to Palmerston North yesterday after a seven months holiday abroad, during which they visited many places in England and spent a few days in Canada. Rev. F. A. Crawshaw, secretary of the New Zealand Auxiliary of the Mission For Lepers, leaves Palmerston North shortly before Christmas for Melbourne to take up his headquarters there as general secretary for the Australian auxiliary of the mission, the appointment he recently received. The Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association, last evening, passed a motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr G. N. Goldie, the motion bein<r carried with the members standing in silence. The chairman (Mr J. T.°McDonald) said that although the late Mr Goldie might not be known so well by the younger players, he had done a very great deal for tennis in New Zealand. The death occurred at the Whangarei Hospital last week of Rev. Albert Whalley, formerly Baptist minister in Whangarei. Mr Wballey, since coming to New Zealand from England, was in charge of several Baptist churches, his settled ministry in Whangarei being from 1905 to 1913. He was the founder; of the first Bible training institute in New Zealand, commencing on- April 5, 1912, and continuing until 1915, when it was closed owing to the war. Mr Whalley is survived by. his wife and four sons, one of whom is Mr Albert Whalley, of Dannevirke.
