The entries were:— Saturday—A. Grade: Shannon, Foxton, Palmerston Nor h, Feilding and Pahiatua. Saturday—B Grade: West End, Tak;lro A and B, Bunnythorpe, Palmerston North, Bulls, Pahiatua, Long-

burn, Poliangina, Feilding and Manawatu.

Wednesday.—A Grade: Takaro, Bulls and Palmerston • North. ‘ Wednesday—B Grade: West End, Takaro, Manawatu and Palmerston North. The entries were referred to a subcommittee which will draw up a programme of matches. The sub-commit-tee was also empowered! to carry out any regrading thought necessary. The secretary' is to write to* several clubs which have not yet entered for the competition and are known to be desirous of doing so. Mr Lovelock said that near to Pahiatua there were six clubs with about two courts each. The members were very keen and there was nobody in authority to organise them for interclub games. He suggested that they should be brought under the association and inter-club play organised. The number of players would total about 200, and, if they were under the association, would probably prove a useful asset in future years. The meeting decided to write to the Pahiatua Club suggesting that it should make efforts to have the clubs referred to affiliated and then conduct an interclub competition among them, controlled from Pahiatua. Mr Lovelock 1 suggested that a team should be selected from the clubs to play in the association’s inter-club competition. That could not be brought into effect this year possibly, he added. Another member suggested that a team could be drawn from the smaller association to play the winning A and B teams in the • usual inter-club competition. All the clubs, said Mr Lovelock, were 12 miles inside the Manawatu Association’s boundaries. On the suggestion of the secretary, it was decided to buy' a book and have the results of all inter-club matches correctly kept. The secretary is to provide the next meeting with an estimate of the season’s income to allow ,the expenditure to be gauged accordingly.
