DEATH OF FAMOUS SPRINTER. Australian friends report the death on September 1 of Jack Donaldson, the famous Australian professional runner, says a New York message appearing in the Sydney Press. The late Jack Donaldson was one ot the world’s greatest sprinters, and some of his records established over 20 years ago . still .stand. In .1910, at Johannesburg, he ran 6o yards m of seconds, and' in the following Year m Melbourne was timed to run 80 yarns in 7 4-5 seconds. His best figures for 100 yards were 9j! seconds, at Johannesburg in 1910, and 9 3-5 seconds on grass at Melbourne in the following year’. At Pretoria, in 1909 he covered 120 yards in 111 seconds, but perhaps his greatest achievement was at the Sydney Sports Ground in September, 1911, when in a 130 yards race foi the woriel’s championship against the American , Charles Holway, Donaldson no in 12 seconds. Ho was also credited with 10 yards inside “even tune at Kimberley, when he covered 100 yards in 14 seconds.
