VISIT TO AUSTRALIA.

SCOTTISH TOURISTS. As a return for the Australian tour of Scotland in 1928, there is every prospect of a Scottish invasion of Australia in connection with the Melbourne centenary celebrations (says a London message). The Victorian Agent-General, Mr R. Linton, and party visited Scotland and secured enthusiastic support for the idea from the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, who is convening a meeting of all lord provosts for October 26, to discuss arrangements. He is inviting the Resident Minister, Mr S. M. Bruce, the Dominions Secretary, Mr J. H. . Thomas, and the Agents-Ceneral to attend the meeting. In view of the well-informed belief that the Earl of Athlone is the possible Royal representative for the centenary, an * Australian interest is attached to his opening of the Shipping Engineering Exhibition. A former Governor-General of the Commonwealth, Lord Stonehaven, the president of the exhibition, in intro.ducing the Earl of Athlone, described him as the embodiment of patriotism and devotion to duty, of which the Royal family were daily exemplars.
