All interesting exhibit at a lecture by Instructor-Commander W. H. Moyes, of H.M.A.S. Australia, on Antarctic ’Exploration, at Wellington, last night was a sledge which had been left behind in Adelie Land by Sir Douglas Mawson in 1912. and which had been brought back to civilisation in 1931 by Mr R. G. Simmers, a member of another Mawson Expedition in that year. Although the sledge was in the frozen wastes for nearly 20 years, it is in good condition, having been found in a hollow covered with a protecting layer of snow.
