COMING-OF-AGE.

ENJOYABLE PARTY. On the occasion of her 21st birthday, Miss K. Hart was tendered a delightful celebration party by her parents, Mr and Mrs H. A. Hart, of Fitzherbert Avenue, Palmerston North, on Friday evening. The function was held in the Piccadilly rooms, which looked gay and inviting with decorations of choice spring bulbs and nicely shaded lights, and the. guests, numbering over fifty, were delighted at the pleasant surroundings. The host and hostess hospitably received their guests on arrival, Mrs Hart wearing a handsome, gown of figured chenille. Miss Kitty Hart wore a becoming dress of turquoise blue satin with cherry velvet cape and accessories, and little _Joan Hart was daintily frocked in Kate Greenaway style, in apple green figured satin. Dancing, competitions and items whiled away a happy, evening, and ' under the supervision of the M.C., Mr C. Erenstrom, there was not a dull moment. Music for dancing was supplied by Mr Bradley, encores being frequent and insistent. Those wlio won novelty dances were Miss K. Hart and Mr D. Harris (Monte Carlo), Miss J. Christian and Mr Johnson (lucky spot); competition winners were Joan Hart (travelling parcel) and Miss J. Rosanoski and Mr O’Leary (advertisements), all of whom were presented with little prizes. Items were rendered by Miss M. Penketh and Miss C. Christian (vocal solos) and Miss J. Christian (American tap waltzes), and card tables were available for non-dancers. Supper was served at long tables at the head of which reposed the beautiful twotier birthday cake (made by Mrs H. Kemp). Pull justice was done to the good fare provided, and the usual toasts were honoured. Mr Erenstrom proposed the toast of ‘‘the guest of honour,” Miss Hart making a charming little reply, and, at the same time thanked everyone for the presents they had given her. To Mr E. Sawyers was entrusted the toast, “The Host and Hostess,” to which Mr Hart made appropriate reply. The presentation of the symbolic golden key, autographed by all the guests, took place and the birthday cake was cut and distributed. After supper, dancing was continued till a late hour, when .the gathering broke up after singing. “Auld Lang Syne,” and also musical honours for Mr and Mrs Hart, and Misses Kitty and Joan Hart.

Rosanoski, turquoise blue frilled georgette ; Ruth Kemp, blue and pink organdie; P. Venner, floral ninon; Ethel Kemp, blue flat crepe; D. Pick, green satin; Campbell, yellow floral silk and green coatee; J. Harris, blue lace; also Messrs D. Harris, D. Brophy, W. Rumsey, J. O’Leary, J. Strachan, Johnson, Duncan, Fry, Zeismer, C. W. Erenstrom, G. Nash, E. Sawyers, C. Carr, O. Drew, T. Worrall, B. Spooner and E. Davis.
