FEILDING STOCK SALE.

SMALLER DEMAND FOR WETHERS. FAT CATTLE BRIGHT. A slight easing was seen in fat sheep t values at Feilding, yesterday, wethers , particularly meeting with a lessened de- • mand. Good ewes sold at rates closely ap- , proaching recent rates, but the bulk of - the entry went at reduced prices. Hoggets received about the same attention as the 2 heavy sheep, while a pen of spring Jambs t realised 18s. Store sheep - wore scarce, but tho ewe 1 hoggets that were yarded came in for brisk 3 bidding to sell at 25s 3d for . the peak s price. > Fat cattle were in beautiful condition > mainly, and excepting heifers made a c good sale, cows showing an appreciable ■ advance over late sales. At the commencement of the sale it - was noticeable that prices were down about , Is 6d per head on the previous week; in 5 the middle of the sale the market eased 3 considerably, and it finished up easily 3s 3 lower than previous week’s prices. In the i store sheep section there was only a small f entry, again being principally hoggets; all 3 classes of store sheep were in keen demand i and firm on last week’s prices. In the cattle l’ sections, dairy cattle showed a stronger , tone, and all lines were sold under the - hammer. A very small yarding of store 3 cattle came to hand, which maintained i late rates. POULTRY MARKET. WELLINGTON PRICES CURRENT. WELLINGTON, Sept. 23. Prices of live poultry ruling in the Wellington markets this week are quoted as follow:—Fowls: White Leghorns, hens, 2s to 2s 6d each; cockerels, Is 9d to 2s; pullets, 3s to 4s. Black Orpingtons: hens, heavy, 3s 6d to 4s each; medium, 2s 9d to 3s; cockerels, heavy, 4s to 4s 6d; medium, 2s 6d to 3s. Ducks: India Runner, young, 3s to 3s 6d each; old, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. White: heavy, 4s 3d to 4s 9d. Geese: 4s to 5s each. Turkeys, 8d to 9d a ib. 'tFARMING NEWS, RURAL RAKINGS. The lambing season is well advanced in the Woodvillc district and indications point to a number of averages exceeding 100 per cent. This figure has been reached at the Olawhao station. Ewes arc doing well, and there have been comparatively few losses in the district. Tho Ilopelands Dairy Company is advancing 9d for August supply, says the Woodvillc Examiner. If tho percentage increase in supply continues the season should bo a record one. The highest individual supplier is now bringing in 24001bs of milk daily, and other suppliers are also showing considerably increased returns. There is an abundance of feed and the cows are doing well. HIDES AND SKINS. SALE AT WELLINGTON. SHEEPSKINS DEARER. Competition for sheepskins was very keen and animated at the fortnightly sale held yesterday by the Wellington brokers. Prices advanced id, and in some eases £d a lb on those of two weeks ago. Salted skins showed a corresponding rise. There was a good demand for all grades of hides. As compared with late rates, heavies, mediums and lightweights were easier by gd to id, while kip and yearlings declined .up to jd. Calf met a weaker market, values generally being lower by id to |d. Fair supplies of tallow were offered, prices being fully firm on late rates. WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE. YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. A strong tone was again evident in the Wellington market yesterday, and values tended to advance further, gains being shown in many cases. There was a very active demand, and sobers were not disposed to make concessions. Government loans and local body and other debentures 3 had a healthy tone, values being fully 5 firm. Wellington Racing Club 8 per -cents • moved up to £95, no sellers. Banks in " most cases tended upward. Union of Ausf tralias bad two sales at £lO 5s and another 3 at £lO Bs. Australasias wore sought at £l2 3 14s, but sellers hold for £l2 18s. Commercial 3 of Australia were firm at 16s lOd, sellers asking 4d higher. Commercial of Sydney 3 moved up to £lB 2s, E.S. and A. Bank to < £5 18s, and National of Australasia, £5 t paid, to £6 12s. New Zealand ordinaries eased t.o 45s Id, but the long-term morti gage shares wore 3d up at 33s 9d.
