COCHET’S PROFESSIONAL DEBUT Received September 23, 1.30 p.m. PARIS, Sept. 22. Henri Coehet made bis professional debut in the Freneh-Amcriean match before a small crowd at the Roland Garros Stadium, where he beat Bruce Barnes, 6—i, 5—7, G—4, o—6, 6—3. He was displaying his Davis Cup form, though he was listless and ragged in the late stages. Tilden beat Plaa, G—3, 6—3, 6—2. PERRY BEATS STOEFFEN. Received September 23, 1.30 p.m. LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22. In the Pacific south-west tournament, in the semi-final of the singles, Perry (England) beat Stoeffen (United States) 6—o, B—6, 7—l. AVEST END CLUB. The decision to affiliate with the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association this season was made at the first annual meeting of tlie.AA 7 est End Tennis Club, last evening, when Mr E. J. Patterson presided over a good attendance. Officers were elected as follow:—Patron, Mr G. Tremaine; president. Mr F. J. Patterson; vice-presidents, Messrs H. Hands, F. Owtram, G. Newth and B. H. Just; club captain, Mr M. Smith; vice-captain, Mr A. T. AA 7 allace; lion, secretary, Mr R. Hands; lion, treasurer, Mr L. Hogg; lion, audtior, Mr K. Glendinning: committee, Misses A. Mouldey, R, SClilierike; Messrs G. K. Hollior and T. Reichenbach.
The official opening was fixed for October 4.
