CRICKET SEASON

COMBINED SERVICES CLUB. The annual meeting of the Combined Services Cricket Club was held on Thursday evening, when there was a good attendance. Colonel J. H. Whyte presided. Officers were elected as follow:- —1 resident, Colonel Whyte; vice-presidents. Major Lindsay Garner, Major J. Dash, Major Ivan Wilson, Captain Cyril King, Lieutenant H. Gamer and Messrs B. J. Jacobs, T. R. Moore, C. Louisson, W. B. Tenncnt, T. B. Arlidge and W. R. Kells; club captain, Mr E. A. Heaphy; secretary, Mr J. A. McGavin; assistant secretary, Mr J. Green: delegates to association, Messrs W. Wilson and J. A. McGavin ; Wednesday selection committee, club captain, field captain and Mr V\ . Wilson; Saturday selection committee, club captain, field captain and Mr D. Davies; coaches (batting), Mr W. Mil-, son; bowling. Mr Broughton. The decision was made to submit the following remits to the annual meeting of the Cricket Association: —“That a Saturday senior B grade he started, and the winners of the senior B and the lowest team in the senior A grade change grades the following year ; tnat the "Wednesday competition be divided into two grades; that from the season 1934-36 no club be allowed to nominate a senior team, unless they nominate and keep a team going in one of the lower grades.” It was agreed to enter teams in both the Saturday and Wednesday competitions, and the club resolved to supixjrt the Old Boys’ Club in its proposal of two-day matches for senior A and 13 and one-day matches for lower grades. A handsome trophy was offered tor competition, and it was dee.dsd that it be given to the most improved plater. Tlie first praetice is to be held oil Saturday at the Artillery Barracks, a.nd thereafter on "Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, and on Thursday evenings at 7.30, until the Sportsground is fit for play. More than twenty new members were elected, and subscriptions were fixed for the season.
